Life Science has been identified as Singapore's fourth pillar of industrial growth. The Advanced Environmental Biotechnology Centre (AEBC) aims to develop and harness core biotechnologies and tools in life sciences to for the environmental industry, including bio-security issues of national and international importance, by developing cost-effective solutions.

With its modern laboratory facilities and highly qualified personnel, AEBC also conducts niche research in microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology to address the issues in environmental needs including biological processes for wastewater treatment, odour removal, bio-remediation, bio-monitoring and disinfections to meet the environmental needs for Singapore and the region.
